Abstract:
Carlos Cejas is a Vice President with the transportation engineering firm, Gannett Fleming, who are principal consultants to the Florida Department of Transportation on the South Florida East Coast Corridor Transit Analysis Study (www.sfeccstudy.com). He will share important information about the study which analyzes options for transit through the hearts of 28 densely-populated areas from Miami to Jupiter. This project is potentially important to the South Florida business community because similar projects around the country have created significant economic, real estate, and development activity, especially near stations and “Transit-Oriented Developments.”
The project is situated along the Florida East Coast Corridor, the exact route of Henry Flagler’s railroad which has helped many of the communities and has greatly molded development patterns in South Florida. The railroad, today, carries only freight traffic. This Study is looking at reinstating passenger service on the FEC line through the 3 counties.
As one of the primary spokespersons on the Study, Mr. Cejas will present the most recent project information and will be prepared to address any questions or concerns.
